The MSTieCast - Episode 14: Go Home, Joe

Tonight on the MSTieCast, Fred, Toby, and Joshua discuss the wonderfully talented (but often overlooked) Joe Estevez, the celebrity Estevez/Sheen clan.

Yes, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez’s uncle (as well as Martin Sheen’s brother) appeared in two films that were later ripped apart by the Satellite of Love crew in the Sci-Fi years. The first, Werewolf (pronounced Whar-wilf or Whur-wulf) is a strange, silly film that seems to be the result of two different movies running head-first into each other, creating a hideous, contrived monstrosity.

The second episode he appeared in, Soultaker, is considered a landmark for the show. Not for the film itself, but due to the appearances of Joel Robinson and TV’s Frank in the host segments after several years away, as well as being the opener of the show’s final season. As for the film? It’s a really dumb movie that thinks it’s profoundly deep. ‘Nuff said.

But I’m guessing you don’t want to see this discussion in text, do you? Just listen to the episode to get our thoughts on both episodes featuring Tito Jermaine Joe Estevez.

And hey, while you’re here, check out Toby’s (poorly-lit-and-rendered) vlog review of The Avengers (contains spoilers).

On this pulse-pounding episode of the MSTieCast, Joshua and Toby finally square off, with Mike Hagen caught in the middle of their battle of wits. Will the MSTieCast survive this epic collision of minds? What does this mean for Toby’s daughter from the future? Does Mike even own a pair of headphones? Find out the answers to these questions and more* on this episode of the MSTieCast!

This episode has been rated PG-13 due to the use of language uttered by Mr. Mike Hagen. The writer responsible has been sacked.

A little bit of news; due to the amount of likes we’ve gotten on Facebook, our page now has a url! You can now find the show at Facebook.com/MSTieCast.

Next time (?) on the MSTieCast, we speak with Allison “Obscurus Lupa” Pregler! Send questions to our aforementioned Facebook, our Twitter to the right, here on Tumblr, or just regular email!

*Actually, we just talk about Season 1 of MST3K, with a focus on Josh “J. Elvis” Weinstein. Though Toby and Josh do get into a mini-debate. So that’s neat.

Tonight on the MSTieCast, Joshua and Toby chat with Kittyhawk, author of the webcomic Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki. We discuss all manner of things, including, but not limited to, watching MST3K on a Sega Dreamcast, Kermit the Frog in Jim Henson’s Taken, ponies (this one, specifically), and sandwiches.

Lots of sandwiches.

This episode has been rated PG-13 by the Board for MSTieCast Episode Ratings due to swearing and suggestive language. But we’re pretty sure kids don’t listen to this show anyway.

Tune in for a bonus MSTieCast this weekend!

Tonight on the MSTieCast, Fred, Josh, and Toby speak with Professor David Worth, director of the film in episode 501, Warrior of the Lost World (as well as the Jean-Claude Van Damme film Kickboxer, Shark Attack 3, Lady Dragon I & II, and many more). We discuss his illustrious career, the filming of WotLW, the awesomeness of Megaweapon, Bruce Campbell, and his experience with MST3K.

Find the MST3K episode of Warrior of the Lost World on Netflix Instant (the unriffed version is here), and buy the film, as well as Professor Worth’s book, ‘The Citizen Kane Crash Course in Cinematography’, on Amazon.

This episode has been labelled NSFW for cursing, both in English and Italian, and the image of Prof. Worth being spanked by Donald Pleasance being spanked with a riding crop. We’re very, very sorry.

Next month on the MSTieCast, we welcome Kittyhawk, author of the webcomic Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki, and a big MST3K fan.

The MSTieCast rises from the ashes like…like some kind of magical bird. An emu? A kiwi? I don’t know.

But yes, the show is back, and with two cohosts you may be familiar with: Josh Hadley of Radiodrome/Lost in the Static/It Came from Beyond Midnight and Mike Hagen of Mystery Fandom Theater 3000! We discuss several things, from odd movie covers, how success can change filmmakers, and we even discuss MST3K, occasionally? (though I can’t remember why we ever would)

Theme song: “Idiot Control Now” (opening by Joel & the Bots, ending by Lemon Demon)
